Certified Personal Trainer class scheduled for Sitka
Certified Personal Trainer class scheduled for Sitka
SITKA, April 14, 2008 — An American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Personal Trainer class is scheduled for Sunday, July 13, through Tuesday, July 15, at the SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital Litehouse Cafeteria conference rooms. By taking this class, students will develop the skills and knowledge they need to become a trainer in today’s evolving fitness industry. They will learn ACSM and industry guidelines which will help them work with individuals from all levels of fitness on safe and effective methods of exercise. The cost of the class will be about $800, which includes workshop fees, books, testing, and a portion of the cost of bringing the trainer to Sitka from Seattle. Usually, residents of Southeast Alaska have to travel to Seattle or Portland to find the closest available ACSM certification opportunities. In order to secure the trainer, at least 10 participants are needed. A $100 deposit is due by Wednesday, April 30, in order to join the class. For more information, please call Martha Pearson at 966-8783 or contact her by e-mail at martha.pearson@searhc.org. Also that week: the Annual Meeting of the Alaska Regional Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine meets in Sitka directly after this certification training. On July 16-19, ACSM presents the topic: “The Medicine of Bodies in Motion.” Many exciting speakers are planned.
