Sitka

My wife and I just spent a week there in Sitka. What was supposed to be a small trip preceeding our anniversary trip to Aruba in a few weeks turned into a trip of a lifetime. The memories and experiences we had there will be on my mind for a long time. I simply cannot say enough about the people and area. It was spectacular!

I chose Sitka because one of my best college buddies grew up there and recently returned. He offered to show us around and I thought it would be a good change from the typical sand-and-sun vacation many of my friends and family take. I'm glad I took him up on his offer!

I have to give major props to Jo Cropley (http://www.vacationsitka.com) for her accomodations and Sonny Cropley (http://www.charteralaska.com) for the adventures on the water. We managed to hike, fish, sightsee, shop and more in our week there. Mornings started at Highliner Coffee and evenings usually ended up at Lakeside for groceries or snacks.

We recently looked at returning there with more family for Aug '08 too. Prices on flights seem a big higher this time around. Gotta love that. Doh!
