I am moving to alaska and would like to know what used cars prices are like.

Are they the same or higher priced?

Should I buy a newer vehicle in preperation for higher prices in the future?

Higher priced usually.
Good strategy is to bring one up and load it up w/ tons of goodies and ship it up.
you could see it in town for a nice profit.

I used to sell cars here in Alaska and can tell you that you will probably pay a little more here but usually the difference in cost is less than what the shipping of one will cost you. Unless you already have a vehicle you love I would just buy it in Alaska.

Good Information here. I would have figured that car prices would be a bit higher. You are off in a more secluded part of the world, so anything worth purchasing would cost a bit more.
